Wayside, opened as a self-catering cottage for the first time in 2009, is located in the heart of Scotland in rural Perthshire, in an excellent position to enjoy Perthshire's many visitor attractions, activities and glorious scenery. The cities of Edinburgh and Glasgow, and their international airports, are around an hour away by car. The cottage is situated on the edge of a quiet country road, with excellent opportunities for a stroll to the nearby village of Pitcairngreen or on the farm. Cycling in the area is excellent and bikes can be safely stored on site.
The owner is a Blue Badge Guide which means she has first class knowledge of Scotland, places to visit and things to see and do. She will be happy to offer tailor made guided tours of Perthshire or further afield for a day, or longer, at additional cost.

Just ten minutes by car, Perth has many cafes and restaurants, an award winning Horsecross Concert Hall, Theatre and individual shops which are a joy to browse. You could easily spend a day wandering around the Museum and Art Galleries, walking in one of Perth's two Inches (parks) or strolling along the banks of the River Tay which flows through the town. Branklyn Gardens on the edge of the town is famous for its alpine plants. No visit to Perth would be complete without a visit to Scone Palace, former crowing place of the Kings of Scotland. Perth has been voted the best place to live in a UK poll and has been a regular winner of Britain in Bloom.
The nearby villages and towns have their own special attractions. Dunkeld and its Cathedral by the river, Crieff and The Famous Grouse Whisky Distillery, Auchterarder with its host of interesting shops, and Aberfeldy to the north where you might walk in the Birks. Pitlochry has its very own 'Theatre in the Hills' and Salmon Ladder.
Travel a bit further afield to Inverness, Oban (gateway to the Isles) or the Cairngorms. If you are a golfer, St Andrews is 1 hr 15 mins by car and Gleneagles just 20 minutes away by car. Perthshire alone has more than 40 Golf Courses and you can benefit with discounted prices by selecting the Perthshire Green Card that can be booked during your stay or in advance.
Whether your interests lie with history, culture, stately homes and castles, gardens, wildlife, fishing, golf, cycling or adventure sports, they are all within easy reach. If you are a walker, you will be spoilt for choice.

| It was precisely as we had hoped - accessibility was important to us, close enough to Edinburgh to meet trains and planes - and to visit St Andrews and Gleneagles. It was very helpful to be able to book the precise days we needed, rather than having to accept a fixed start for 7 days |

| Fantastic accommodation - clean and well appointed. The weather and scenery were fantastic and having comfortable and clean accomodation topped it off. We were there for the orienteering and that was great over differing terrains over the six days. |
