Property information
Moulinalmond Cottage is set in the grounds of a quiet and secluded Victorian Garden yet only a few minutes' drive from Perth city centre. The cottage is well equipped, with a large pine-featured dining kitchen, and the sitting room has a welcoming wood-burning stove. The garden door leads to a lovely sun-trap courtyard. Visitors should note that the double bedroom is accessed through the twin room and both bedrooms are en-suite to the bathroom. Because of this layout the cottage is best suited for a party of two, or a family group. The staircase is quite steep and may not suit the infirm or those with small children. Comfortably furnished, this is a charming base from which to explore the rich tapestry of Perthshire and the Highlands-some of the most beautiful countryside in Europe.
Visitors have the exclusive use of an enclosed Garden to relax in, with lawns, rose arches and fruit trees - the perfect place for a picnic, a quiet read, or just a snooze in the sun. From the grounds there are views across the River Almond and the sound of the river can be heard quite clearly. Walk in the ancient and historic Methven Wood where William Wallace and Robert the Bruce both fought battles in the Scottish Wars of Independence. Ideally situated as a base from which to explore Scotland with Edinburgh a 45 minute drive, Glasgow an hour, Dundee 30 minutes and Perth 10 minutes. Local eating out in Almondbank, a 5-minute walk, or in nearby Pitcairngreen, a 10-minute walk. Access to the woods is direct from the grounds as well as access to Methven Wood - an ancient oak woodland which is a Site of Special Scientific Interest. The gardens are typical of a Victorian country house with fine specimen trees, a walled kitchen garden, various flower and shrub beds, and sweeping, extensive lawns. There are two paddocks either side of the property with grazing horses, sheep and cattle, while the north end of the grounds provide a wonderful vista up the River Almond with cliffs and woodland on either side.

Here we are at the end of our holiday already and what can we say? What superlatives can we use that we haven?t already mentioned when seeing you? It goes without saying that this is a beautiful place but it isn?t till you spend time here that you come to realise the healing that takes place in such a setting as you begin to relax and go with the pace.
We had beautiful weather; the gardens looked wonderful.
Every day we pretended we were Lords of the Manor and lived it up with afternoon strolls round the estate.
We will be back undoubtedly.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us. (booked week in June) |

We have spent such a great time at Moulinalmond that we now regret not having booked for two weeks. Everything was fantastic: the castles, the cities, the nature, the lakes, and of course the charming cottage and wonderful gardens here. Be sure we?ll be back in autumn to see the trees at their best.
The children also had a lovely time in the garden. Thank you for setting up the badminton for them.
Hope to meet you in Galicia. |

| Relaxing is not a word we are terribly familiar with, but with Moulinalmond Cottage it?s been so relaxing that even my handwriting has gone to pot! I have enjoyed wandering the gardens at dusk and trying to catch out the night-time creatures. Staying here has been just what we needed. Thank you and we will return when back in this area |

What a beautiful setting to have spent our holiday in your lovely cottage. It was so restful and the gardens are ajoy to walk around. Our dog, Kiera, had a lovely time with us and would fall asleep after our many sojourns to the surrounding areas in Perthshire and beyond.
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to have a wonderful break. We shall definitely return in the future. |
