Property information
Moulinalmond Cottage is set in the grounds of a quiet and secluded Victorian Garden yet only a few minutes' drive from Perth city centre. The cottage is well equipped, with a large pine-featured dining kitchen, and the sitting room has a welcoming wood-burning stove. The garden door leads to a lovely sun-trap courtyard. Visitors should note that the double bedroom is accessed through the twin room and both bedrooms are en-suite to the bathroom. Because of this layout the cottage is best suited for a party of two, or a family group. The staircase is quite steep and may not suit the infirm or those with small children. Comfortably furnished, this is a charming base from which to explore the rich tapestry of Perthshire and the Highlands-some of the most beautiful countryside in Europe.
Visitors have the exclusive use of an enclosed Garden to relax in, with lawns, rose arches and fruit trees - the perfect place for a picnic, a quiet read, or just a snooze in the sun. From the grounds there are views across the River Almond and the sound of the river can be heard quite clearly. Walk in the ancient and historic Methven Wood where William Wallace and Robert the Bruce both fought battles in the Scottish Wars of Independence. Ideally situated as a base from which to explore Scotland with Edinburgh a 45 minute drive, Glasgow an hour, Dundee 30 minutes and Perth 10 minutes. Local eating out in Almondbank, a 5-minute walk, or in nearby Pitcairngreen, a 10-minute walk. Access to the woods is direct from the grounds as well as access to Methven Wood - an ancient oak woodland which is a Site of Special Scientific Interest. The gardens are typical of a Victorian country house with fine specimen trees, a walled kitchen garden, various flower and shrub beds, and sweeping, extensive lawns. There are two paddocks either side of the property with grazing horses, sheep and cattle, while the north end of the grounds provide a wonderful vista up the River Almond with cliffs and woodland on either side.
